Wine Tours and vineyards
Hermanus & Hemel-en-Aarde valley.
Hermanus is blessed with an outstanding wine valley called Hemel-en-Aarde and therefore Wine Tours of Hermanus are a must-do activity.
Set in stunning mountain scenery, with over 15 wine estates, 10 tasting rooms, 5 excellent lunch-time restaurants and over 70 awarding winning wines, you are spoilt for choice.
Wine Tours are conducted by an accredited Cape Wine Academy Tour Guide in a luxury air-con minibus, who will inform you of lots of relevant information on – the history of wine, vine and grape cultivation, cellar processes, barrels, corks, exports and loads more…..while you sip your wines.
Tours start with a scenic drive up Rotary Way to give you a birds-eye view of the wine valley and Hermanus, so as to orientate you and to explain what our wine region is all about.
Included in each Wine Tour are – a large cooler-box of free soft drinks, box of crackers to cleanse your palates between each wine tasted, John Platter wine book to see what the experts have to say about each wine and all your wine tasting fees (charged by the wineries) are paid for by the tour company.
2 hours will allow you to visit 2 to 3 vineyards and sample 15 to 20 wines and start at R350 per person. Each additional hour will add on approximately 5 to 15 more wines and are priced at R50 per person per extra hour – (kids go for free).
Lunch-time restaurant bookings can be easily arranged (and are for your own pocket).
To end your tour we can visit a fabulous wine store at the bottom of the valley, that has over 1600 different South African wines, ports, champagnes, brandies, grappa and many other delicious liquors.
